How can I mod in my own weapons?

For some time now I've wanted to start adding item packs to Jagged Alliance. I saw they posted a modding guide for adding new prefabs to the game, but that seems to be restricted only to level editing objects. I do have Unity 4 Pro (I use it for work), and have downloaded their 0.5 editor, but I'm a bit stumped when it comes to setting stuff up for a weapon. If anyone has any knowledge on the subject that would be very helpful.

Thanks

Guess you need to research a bit how Unity handles 3d models, then make yours into an asset pack, declare it in JSONS and so on. In theory at least the game can load custom assets, beside default ones.

But imho you're jumping ahead of the gun here, since FC is still not yet done with patching so there's little chance they have time to write extensive modding guides for us.
